Inez Lowry

Inez Lowry peacefully passed away on February 24, 2023, at the age of 98. She was born in Haleyville, Alabama, on September 12, 1924 to William and Emma Mize, and was the oldest of six children. After graduating from high school in 1942, she worked at Beemans Ammunition packing powder in Talledega, Alabama. She then attended the University of Montevallo, and following graduation, she taught elementary school for two years. She met the love of her life, Robert, through a cousin. After World War II, they married in May 1946, and lived in Mobile, Alabama. In 1956, they moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and while Robert worked, she cared for her home and four children. She was active in her church and managed her children’s numerous activities. After Robert retired, they enjoyed traveling, camping, square dancing, and spending time with grandchildren.

Inez is preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Robert. She is survived by her sister, Sybil League, and her brother, Phillip Mize; four children: Linda Walker (Paul), Cheryl Walker (James), Robyn Wicklund (John), and Robert Lowry, Jr. (fiancée, Deborah); five grandchildren: Paul, Ryan, Kyle, Aaron, and Alison; and six great-grandchildren: Coby, Kellen, Van, Branson, Hudson, and Troy. The family would like to recognize with deep appreciation the friends and loving caregivers of Regency Retirement Village (Assisted Living Fourth Floor), and Affinity Hospice. Visitation for Inez will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel. Inez will be laid to rest in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
