

Jayne Bass Scott, 87, of Madison, Alabama passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025.
Born on February 8, 1938, in Pisgah, Alabama. The seventh of ten children, born to Robert and Cloe Bass of Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
Jayne was married for 48 years and was preceded in death by her husband Donald Wayne Scott in 2012.
Loving and devoted mother of three, she is survived by her sons Jonathan and Shannon, daughter Sharron, grandsons Gareth and Sabastian, and sisters Martha Reed and Millie Bonham.
Jayne grew up in the Baptist church and travelled with her sisters performing gospel songs throughout the southeast to much acclaim. She married her Marine husband in 1964 and relocated between Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, San Diego California and Huntsville, Alabama throughout those years.
Jayne focused her life on creating a warm and loving home where all were welcome. She loved children and as a result all the neighborhood kids and friends of her children wanted to be around her. She was a wonderful cook and tried to feed anyone that would step through her doorway.
Jayne encouraged her children and grandchildren’s creativity, instilled a strong sense of right and wrong, and promoted the value of hard work. She stood by her convictions, had a great sense of humor, was always stylish and strikingly beautiful.
Visitation for Jayne will be held Monday, July 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd, Huntsville, AL. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life service at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 698 Winchester Rd, Huntsville, AL.
