Jerry Glen Steel

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Jerry served from 1967 until his retirement in 1987, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He was part of the Persian Missiles Unit and completed three tours in Germany, as well as serving in Oklahoma from 1970 to 1972. His career reflected his deep commitment, discipline, and patriotism, qualities that continued to define him throughout his life.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Olene Steel, and his brothers, Rogers Steel and Ralph Steel, all of Morris, Alabama. He is survived by his brother, Charles Steele of Morris, Alabama; his son, Michael Steel of Toney, Alabama; and his daughter, Carol Young of Toney, Alabama.

A service honoring Jerry’s life will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd. NE, Huntsville, AL 35811, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment with full military honors will take place at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Jerry will be remembered for his steadfast dedication, his quiet strength, and the love he held for his family. His service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
