Kenneth Lee Collier Sr., 75 of Hazel Green, AL passed away on January 9, 2019. Kenneth was born in Hollywood, AL on February 9, 1943. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Louise Sayers Collier, parents Shelley and Nellie Collier, in-laws Frederick and Caryl Sayers, and siblings Shelly Ray Collier, Richard Wayne Collier and Sarah Marks-Foote. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Kenneth “Lee” Collier Jr. (Amy) and Forrest Wayne Collier (Tara), his grandchildren Jackson, Cole, Lawson, Camryn, Annie and Charley, his brothers-in-law HD Foote (Sarah) and Frederick (Tina) Sayers, his sisters-in-law Joanna (Shelly Ray) Collier, Donna (Richard) Collier and Ginger (Glenn) Baldwin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was a loyal husband, a first-class father, and an enriching papaw. He was an active member of Hazel Green United Methodist Church. As a lover of life and God’s creation, Kenneth was a humble mentor to many blessed to know him. Characterized by strong work ethic and a unique gift of relating to people, his employment was dominated by periods with Science Applications International Corp. and Nichols Research Corp. / Computer Sciences Corp. Following retirement, Kenneth served local charities alongside his wife including the Toney, AL branch of the Huntsville Assistance Program, encouraged and educated his sons and daughters-in-law, and actively participated in the development of his grandchildren while enjoying the God-given, simpler things in life on his homestead.
Please visit with the family on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Hazel Green United Methodist Church from 1:00 to 2:00 pm proceeded by a funeral service officiated by Pastor Al Geise. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Kenneth to Hazel Green United Methodist Church designated for Lunches of Love or the Huntsville Assistance Program.
