Laura Downey Dimasi

Laura Lee Downey (Poppy, Mimi) Dimasi, age 62, of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama passed away from complications with pancreatic cancer on the 6th day of July 2021. Visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811 on Saturday, July 10th, 2021 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, with the Celebration of Life service commencing at 3:00pm. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Laura was born on September 9th, 1958 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Mr. Cyrus L. and Mrs. Rosel F. Downey. She married the love of her life, Larry Anthony (Tony) Dimasi at Bicentennial Church on Redstone Arsenal on February 16th, 1979. With the addition of their son, Christopher, in September of 1981 and daughter, Amanda, in October 1988, their family was complete. Laura made a career in medical administration and was a loyal employee at The Surgery Center of Huntsville as the Business Office Manager for many, many years. She loved baking and gardening and spending time with her family.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Larry A. Dimasi; her father, Cyrus L. Downey, and mother, Rosel F. Downey; and her brother, Jeffery R. Downey. She will be lovingly and forever remembered by: her brother and sister-in-law, Lennie and Loretta Downey; her son and daughter-in-love, Christopher and Jessica Dimasi; her daughter and son-in-love, Amanda and Jake Simmons; and her three pride-and-joy grandchildren, Camden Dimasi, Carli Dimasi, and Gavin Simmons. She will also be remembered by her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law, and their families, as well as many great friends.

She will be greatly missed!
