Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Norman Lewter, 80, passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2018 at her home with Billy Joe ‘Bill’, her husband of 60 years, at her side. She was born on June 17, 1938 in Fayetteville, TN and spent her childhood in her beloved Lincoln County. She attended Middle Tennessee State Teachers College but soon left to support Bill in his pursuit of gaining his college degree. Upon his graduation they moved to Orlando, FL for a short time and then relocated to Huntsville where they have lived ever since.
After moving to Huntsville, Libby initially worked for the Chrysler Corporation and then went home to manage the household. She was devoted to her family and friends, always making sure that their needs were met. Libby had a heart for the Lord and frequently gave her time to efforts at Memorial Parkway Church of Christ, Chase Park Church of Christ, and Madison Academy. Later in life, she also spent a great deal of time taking care of and spoiling her grandchildren.
Libby was preceded in death by her father, Everett Norman, and her mother, Lynn Sullivan Norman.
She is survived by Bill; son, Chris Lewter; daughter-in-law, Kerry Lewter; grandchildren, Conner Lewter and Annie Lewter; and her caregiver, Brenda Perkins.
A memorial service will be held on January 3rd, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. with the memorial service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Madison Academy or the Alzheimer’s Association.
