Lili Colleen Carter

Lili Colleen Howard Carter, 64, of Gurley, Alabama passed from this life on December 10th 2023. Lili was born on March 8, 1959 to Horace and Nadyne Howard in El Paso, Texas. Lili grew up in Huntsville, Alabama and attended J.O. Johnson High School. After graduating High School Lili attend the University of Montevallo where she studied Early Childhood Education. Lili graduated from University of Montevallo with a Bachelor Degree in Education.

Lili served her community as a Teacher and Director of a Childcare Center for 10 years and then went on to Teach for the Madison County Schools for 27 years as an Elementary School Teacher at Madison County Elementary School. Lili was married to the love of her life Robert (Bob) Carter. They enjoyed traveling and their Yorkie dog Izzy. Though they had no children of their own, She always said her students were her babies. She loved every child she taught and endeavored to help them become a successful part of society. Lili enjoyed being a cheerleader sponsor for many years and passed on her ability to cheer others to her students. Lili was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Nadyne Howard, and her husband Robert (Bob) Carter.

Lili was survived by 4 sisters Lucinda Edwards (Robert), Lisa Hightower, Lauri Shamieh (Fawzi),

Lynn-Amy Williams (Frank). Lili was survived by 7 Nephews and 1 Niece. Dexter Edwards (Kacey), Wendy Williams, Adam Shamieh, Christopher Hightower, Ameer Shamieh (Candace), Ethan Williams (Caitlyn),

Andy Shamieh, Clayton Hightower. Lili was survived by 4 Great Nephews and 2 Great Nieces. Audrey Edwards, Eli Edwards, Levi Shamieh, Ezekiel Shamieh, Malachi Shamieh, and Peyton Shamieh.

Visitation will be at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm and Burial to follow.
