Mary Elizabeth Jaudon Lysaght passed away January 16, 2025. A native of Holly Hill, Florida, Mary was the daughter of the late William Henry Jaudon and Stella Odom Jaudon.
Mary graduated from Mainland High School and attended Stetson University. She loved playing the saxophone in the band and played many concerts in the Daytona Beach Bandshell.
Mary met and married Jake Lysaght, the love of her life, and together they exemplified a loving marriage for over 65 years.
The anchors in Mary’s life were faith, family and friends. Upon moving to Huntsville, she joined First Baptist Church and remained a faithful member before moving to Birmingham in 2019. This verse was found taped in her Bible: “For by grace are you saved by faith and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” Eph. 2:8. This was foundational in the way she lived her life and raised her children. She also served her community through the Red Cross, Girl Scouts, and as a voting polls volunteer.
Mary’s family was centric to her and her love for them evident. She was a beacon of generosity and hospitality, wanting to know about every grandchild, great grandchild, and great-great grandchild. They were the light and joy of her days.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Jake Lysaght. She is survived by her children: Jennifer Cox (Danny); Jim Lysaght (Rachel); Mary Beth Wilbanks (Steve); and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, along with three nephews.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 with visitation 1:00-2:00 and the service following at 2:00. (Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd. NE, Huntsville, AL 35811.) Travis Collins, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be sent to Huntsville First Baptist Church (Hallelujah Choir or The Living Christmas Tree Ministry), 600 Governors Drive, Huntsville, AL 35801.
