Peggy J. Segraves of Huntsville passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2026. She was born September 23, 1932, in Oklahoma City to Silas and Ruby Garoutte. She was a graduate of Classen High School and Athens State University. She worked at Grissom High School as a teachers aid and as the executive assistant to the CEO of COLSA Corporation.
Mrs. Segraves was a long-time member of Weatherly Heights Baptist Church. She loved square dancing with her husband with the Bama Ramblers square dance club for many years, serving her church, Cub Scout den mother, gardening, working with ceramics at the senior center, traveling around the world and walking her dog.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband James of almost 60 years. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mikki and Liz Segraves of Ellenton FL, and Greg and Debbie Segraves of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Shannon Smith and husband Stephen of Huntsville, Nicholas Segraves and wife Laura of Madison, Christopher Segraves and wife Jami of Alabaster AL, and Richard Segraves and wife Madeline of Huntsville; and nine great grandchildren.
