ROBERT JERRY CANNON July 8, 1938 – August 5, 2016 Robert J. Cannon, 78, passed away peacefully at his home Friday surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtle Cannon; and a brother, Donnie Cannon. Left to cherish his precious memory is his loving wife of 50 years, Doris Lindsey Cannon; his daughter, Brenda (Ricky Dean) McKenzie; his brother, Richard (Carol) Cannon of Springfield, TN; his sister, Juanita (WC) Smith of Loretto, TN; 3 adopted daughters; 2 grandchildren; 2 adopted grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends. “Bob”, as most people knew him, was a highly educated man that believed in God’s love and showed it with the way he loved and treated his family and others. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and also had a lengthy career with NASA and the Marshall Space Flight Center. An electronics wizard, Bob’s hands were never idle, and he was also a voracious reader with his own private library! He won numerous awards while at NASA and was also a member of Helion Masonic Lodge #1, and a faithful longtime member of the Church of Christ. Robert Cannon was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him! You may visit with the family on Monday evening, August 8, 2016 from 5-8pm at Valhalla Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted by Bro. Bill Cantrell in Valhalla’s Chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00PM. The Interment, with Military honors, will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
