Ret. SGT Ronald Gregory Lewis

Mr. Ronald Gregory Lewis, age 74, of Huntsville, Alabama departed this earthly life peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Ronald was born on September 14,1950 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Beverly and Clarenda Lewis.

Ronald was baptized and became a member of Chase Park Church of Christ. Ronald was a retired Veteran of the United States Army, having proudly served 20 years ending on July 31, 1992. Ronald loved his family. He was a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews and it did not matter what side of the family it was. He enjoyed talking and teaching people how to do things his way.

Ronalds’s hobbies were fishing, riding his motorcycles, putting puzzles together and playing board games. Ronald’s pleasure time was spent playing cards (pinochle) with his card buddies and listening to his music.

In addition to his parents Beverly & Clarenda Lewis he is preceded in death by his brother; Armand Lewis, sister; Julie Harrison, son; Shannon Lewis, sister-in-law; Crystal Lewis, and brother-in-law; Ronald Crockett.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife; Idova Lewis, daughter; Felicia Lewis Monk (Cantrelle) of Dallas, Texas. six grandchildren; Corlicia Smith, Brittany Collier, Jalen Lewis, Jacob Lewis, Krinicia Green, Christopher Green, Jr, six great grandchildren, five siblings – brother; Eldridge Lewis (Debbie), sister; Joan Crockett, brother; Robin Lewis, sister; Iris Mckenith (Erroll) all of Greater New Orleans, LA, sister; Joy Lewis of Dallas, TX. Sister-in-law; Lonnie Lewis, Uncle; Journell Berry of New Orleans, LA. From the union of marriage, he had three brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law. He leaves to cherish two God Children; Lehman Harrison and Trenitta Peabody of New Orleans, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Public viewing for Ronald will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Chase Park Church of Christ,1640 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Lewis will lie in repose one hour prior to service time. Interment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens with Full Military Honors.
