Ronald Paul Tyra of Huntsville departed this earth on December 31, 2022, at his home as fireworks sounded off for the New Year. He was born on May 4, 1955, at Wethersfield Air Force Base, England where his father was stationed in the United States Air Force.
He is preceded in death by his parents Major Henry B. “Hank” and Mary Frances “Fran” Tyra of Huntsville. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Tyra, his son Christopher Paul (Ashlynn) Tyra, his brother, Don Tyra of Nashville, TN, and his sister, Mary deCherniss of Orlando, FL.
Ron spent his early years moving around with his family. As an Air Force brat, he lived in England, Germany, and points all over the US. When the family moved to Huntsville from Colorado in the mid-60s, he made Huntsville home. He quickly made many friends. Those who knew Ron knew he never met a stranger. He loved all people. Ron was also a jokester. He loved to tell jokes, and he loved to keep people's spirits high. He said the best times in people's lives were when they were laughing. That meant that they were happy, and if he contributed in some way to that happiness, it made him happy.
He attended Weatherly Heights Elementary, Mountain Gap and Whitesburg Middle Schools, and Grissom High School. After graduating from Grissom, he attended Belmont College in Nashville. Growing up, Ron loved camping and Hiking with his Boy Scout Troop. He was a lover of History and enjoyed Hiking the Battlefields of Shiloh and Chickamauga. Years later, he would also enjoy Camping trips with his son Christopher’s Scout Troop. That father/son bonding he truly cherished. From the beaches of Florida to the Rocky Mountains, or the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, Ron was a lover of the great outdoors. From an early age, he loved Motorcycles and Cars. He really enjoyed being a part of the action, and had an appreciation for anything automotive. Ron loved the thrill of anything that went fast, and that lasted throughout his adult life.
In Ron's professional life, he spent many years in the Corporate World traveling throughout the US and sometimes Europe. Later in life when he said goodbye to the corporate world he said hello to the world of Real Estate, which turned out to be his true passion. Ron loved to help people with all their real estate needs. He loved the smile they had on their face knowing he was instrumental in helping them buy or sell their home. He loved working with his wife and son in the family Real Estate business the Tyra Team.
Ron was a member of Willowbrook Church. A highlight in Ron's life was when he and son Chris were baptized together. That was the most wonderful time a father could ask for. There is no greater experience, he said, than for both he and his son to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and be baptized together. Ron said: “that moment in my life I will cherish forever.” Ron absolutely adored his wife and son.
