Terry L Vickers

Terry Lee Vickers of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2022 after battling various physical afflictions including bladder cancer and stage 4 lung/bone cancer. He was born August 22, 1946 in Talladega, AL.

He attended Talladega High School from 1962 – 1965 and graduated from Lee High School in Huntsville in 1965. Attained his Associates Degree from Calhoun Community College in 1975. He met his loving wife while on a blind date at Saint Patrick's Day Dance and married Connie June 16, 1967, in the home of Russell and Elsie Gentle in Huntsville, AL. He served in United States Navy active duty on December 12, 1966. Terry went into the Naval Reserves on October 1, 1969. He served on the USS Vulcan out of Norfolk, VA, as a Machinist’s Mate. He was Honorably Discharged from service (active and reserve) on December 11, 1972. Terry worked as a Customer Engineer at IBM from March 29, 1966, until retirement March 31, 1996. After retiring from IBM, Terry worked for various IBM business partners as a Director of Sales. Terry loved sea-shell collecting on the beach, and doing genealogical research for the entire family. He was a member of the Meridianville church of Christ.

Terry is survived by his wife Connie Elaine Vickers of Huntsville, Alabama; son, James Russell Vickers (Jessica) of Talladega, Alabama; Grandson, Bryan James Vickers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brother Jerry Vickers (Joelene) Madison, AL; sister Amy Vickers Bunn (Lewis) of Birmingham, AL, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Terry will be held Friday, October 21, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
