TOMASA RODRIGUEZ CRUZ March 6, 1927 – March 3, 2015 Tomasa R. Cruz, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Guntersville, AL surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Cruz was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Antonia Cruz, 3 brothers, Edward, Ramon, and Paul, and one sister, Angela. Survivors include her 3 nieces; Antonia Preston of Grant, AL, Jovita Cruz-Smith of Decatur, IL, Minerva Cruz of Sarasota, FL; and one nephew, Ramon Cruz (Cindy) of Decatur, IL; Great nephews and nieces, Cary Preston, Courtney Laski (Matt), Abby Ouimet (Adam), Juan Leyva (Maria), Nick Leyva, and Thomas Cruz; Great-Great nieces and nephews, Matthew Laski Jr., Breanna Laski, and Sawyer Ouimet. Tomasa was born in San Antonio, TX and was a very strong willed and independent woman. She studied cosmetology and was a skilled beautician in Chicago, Illinois and later in Lady Lake, Florida. She loved to style hair and wigs and did so for several opera companies. Tomasa liked to golf, listen to music and travel-especially to Europe. She was also a great cook and loved to bake, especially for her friends and family around the holidays. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake, FL, and also at St. William Catholic Church in Guntersville, AL. Tomasa Cruz was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many! You may visit with the family at St. William Catholic Church, 929 Gunter Avenue, Guntersville, AL 35976, on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 9:30-10:30AM. There will be a Mass of Christian burial officiated by Father Timothy Pfander commencing at 10:30 AM. The inurnment will be announced later in San Antonio, TX.
