

WALTER ENNIS SENTELL, JR. November 23, 1924 - September 25, 2016 Walter Sentell Jr, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sentell, Sr. and Eva Allen Sentell; his first wife, Reva Covington Sentell; and his brother, Richard Sentell. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Fay Sentell of Gurley, AL; his son, Robert Sentell (Sharon) of Gurley, AL; his daughter, Sandi Stewart (Steve) of Manassas, VA; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his nephew, John Sentell; and several other relatives and friends. Walter was a vibrant Christian man and was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years, most recently at First Baptist Church of Gurley, AL. He was a proud US Army Veteran having served in WWII and Korea. Walter was a wounded combat veteran in the Battle of the Bulge; he also served in the D – Day invasion and The Korean Conflict. Walter was also a retired railroad man serving as agent operator in the Knoxville, TN area for a number of years. He was also proud to be a 32nd degree Mason, and was a Past Patron Order of the Eastern Star, Bearden Chapter #347 in Knoxville, TN. Walter Sentell was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him! You may visit with the family on Thursday evening, at Valhalla Funeral Home from 5 to 7pm. There will be a funeral service conducted by Pastor Shane Rodriguez, of Gurley First Baptist Church, commencing at 7:00pm in Valhalla’s Chapel.
