

Edgar R. “Sandy” Levine, 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away September 14, 2023. Sandy was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 14, 1945 to the late Martin and Bernice (Wagner) Levine. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Union College and his MBA from Northwestern University. He resided in many places including Chicago, IL, Greensboro, NC, and Denver, CO, but spent the bulk of his life happily in Indianapolis.
For over 25 years, Sandy made a career as a manufacturing executive at companies including Quaker Oats, Frito Lay, and EAR. Later, he served as an instructor teaching operations and supply chain management at Indiana Tech, as well as a math tutor for students at North Central High School through its work with the AVID for Possibility program. An avid sports fan, he coached little league baseball and remained true to his beloved Dodgers long after their controversial move from Brooklyn to Los Angeles.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen Regan Levine; sister, Linda Leichman of Cincinnati, OH; sons, Martin (Rebecca) Levine of Cleveland, OH, Robert (Tom Belle) Levine of Los Angeles, CA, David Levine of Austin TX, and Gregory (Jami) Levine of Austin, TX; and grandchildren Frances, Andrew, Sidney, and Eleanor.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 1-3 PM at Leppert Mortuary, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN, with a reception to follow at The Roost Monon, 1435 E 86th St. Suite B, Indianapolis, IN.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandy’s memory may be made to AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination (https://www.avid.org/) to support Washington Township Schools.
