

Eleanor P. Dow, 96, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Noblesville, Indiana, at the Prairie Lakes Health Campus. She was born on March 21, 1929, in Manville, New Jersey, to the late Andrew and Eleanor Chunko. She was the youngest of a large and loving family, with five brothers and two sisters.
Eleanor was a kind and gentle soul who put her faith and family at the center of her life. As a proud member of the Greatest Generation, she embodied humility, strength, generosity, and patience. She loved caring for her family and was a talented cook and baker whose traditions brought joy to many.
Eleanor was a longtime member of the Readington Reformed Church in Readington, New Jersey. After relocating to Indianapolis, she became a dedicated member and familiar, welcoming presence at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, where she made many dear friends. At St. Luke’s, she served faithfully on the funeral committee and as an usher, always offering her time and kindness to others.
Eleanor's career included positions at Lipton Tea, Flemington, NJ; RCA, Somerville, NJ; and Diehl & Co., a division of Singer Manufacturing Co., in Somerset, NJ.
Eleanor made friends wherever she went. She treasured her years at Prairie Lakes Assisted Living in Noblesville, IN. She participated fully in community life and never missed a game of BINGO.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Clarence Edward Dow, who passed on January 3, 2018, as well as her parents and seven siblings.
She is survived by her son, Ronald E. Dow, and his wife, Michele, of Indianapolis; her daughter, Patricia A. Becker of Tennessee; one granddaughter; and two great-granddaughters. She is also fondly remembered by the many friends and family she cherished both in Indianapolis and in New Jersey, as well as by the friends and caring staff at Prairie Lakes Assisted Living who brought her comfort, companionship, and joy.
A Celebration of Life for Eleanor will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church on January 3, 2026. Calling will take place from 10:00–11:00 a.m., with a service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.
A service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. on January 10 at Readington Reformed Church in Readington, New Jersey.
