Elizabeth "Betty" B. Hicks

Elizabeth “Betty” Blake Hicks, 95, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025.

Born on April 19, 1930, in Richmond, Kentucky, Betty lived a life filled with love, family, and faith. She attended Model High School in Richmond where she met the love of her life, Paul Hicks, who was a student at Eastern Kentucky University. Betty and Paul shared 75 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life and family rooted in devotion and care for one another.

Betty had many hobbies, including quilting, sewing, reading, working puzzles, playing games with her family, bird watching, and antiquing. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite football and basketball teams, she loved watching the Olympics and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy!. A faithful member of First Baptist Church, she was active in Bible study, lovingly made quilts for church families, and cared for little ones in the church nursery. Most of all she cherished time spent with her family.

Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She instilled strong values in her children and filled their lives with warmth and encouragement.

Betty’s kindness, creativity, sense of humor, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children, Susan (Mike), Margy, Patty, and Jim (Donna); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, and many loved ones, including her parents, her brother, her sister, and her grandson, Samuel Paul.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 PM Saturday, September 27, 2025, with Celebration of Betty's life beginning at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Indianapolis.

Betty will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
