August 15, 1954 – February 10, 2022
Evelyn (“Tori”) Victoria Champion, 67, passed away at her home in Indianapolis on February 10, 2022.
Tori was born on August 15, 1954, in Sacramento, Calif. Graduating from Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach, Calif. in 1972, she later moved to Indianapolis, where she worked in the medical, telecommunications and veterinary care industries.
Tori was a talented writer and poet. She was a creative, independent spirit who jumped out of planes as a skydiver and flew in them overseas to visit family and friends. She had a special love for Japanese culture, having visited Japan many times. She especially enjoyed the country’s many historical sites, its hot springs and the denki buro or “electric baths,” designed to alleviate pain. Tori enjoyed running; in earlier years, she trained for and completed several Mini-Marathons.
Tori was an excellent cook with a true spirit of hospitality. She also had a unique eye for beauty. From her delicious, beautifully presented meals for guests to her handmade greeting cards and lovingly wrapped gifts, Tori always went out of her way to make others feel special. Combined with her many creative talents, Tori had a hilarious sense of humor. She loved making other people laugh.
Affectionately known as Vicky by some family members, Tori is survived by her longtime friend, Takahiro Odo; her beloved aunt, Fran Morrison; sisters Judith, Elizabeth and Patricia Champion, Dionnie Smith and Lisa Hurst; brothers Albert, Emile and Joseph Champion; and cousins Anne Morrigan, John Champion, and Michael, Philip and Sean Morrison.
