George R. Meissner, 90, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 due to Covid. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland in 1948. He went to Purdue University and graduated in 1952 with a degree in Mathematics. George met his wife Mary Ann (Crink) while at Purdue, and they were married in November of 1952. He continued his education at Penn State receiving a degree in Meteorology after being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1953. He was assigned to the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron also known as the Hurricane Hunters, in Liverpool, England. Upon his return to the United States, he was Honorably Discharged from the USAF in July of 1956, and went to work for IBM. George also obtained his MBA from John Carroll University in 1980 and became a CPA. He began working for Ernst and Whinney in 1959 and after moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1980 he then worked for Salt River Project as an IT Consultant until his retirement in 1992. After retirement, George and his wife Mary Ann relocated to Carmel to be near family. George was very active in the parish of St. Luke Catholic Church in Indianapolis and took great pride in his duties as a Eucharistic Minister for the church. He was also very involved when living at the Forum at the Crossing in Indianapolis and later moved to The Stratford Retirement Home in Carmel. George was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann; his brother Kevin, his son Michael, two granddaughters, Bethany and Maggie, and his son-in-law Bill Loeffler. He is survived by his brother Bob (MaryEllen), and children, Terry (Sandy), Maureen Lakin (Brian), Patty McKenzie, and Peggy Loeffler, sister-in-law Joan Laurie, and brother-in-law Bob Crink. George loved spending time with his 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was very blessed to have been able to spend his later years with his loving companion, Evelyn Gray. Due to Covid concerns, graveside services will be limited to family only.
