Jimmy was a proud Navy veteran and served in the Seabees from 1956 to 1962.
He is survived by his sister Sondra (Petrey) Sams, niece and nephews Cassie (Mike), Hubert (Angie), Jayme (Heidi); great-nieces and nephews, Jake (Eden), Carly, Joleigh, Megan, Tess, Loren; and great-great nephew Bodhi.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents James. C. and Margaret Petrey, sister Patricia Louise Petrey, and son Terrance Lee Petrey.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Carmel VFW Post 10003, 12863 Old Meridian Street, Carmel, Indiana 46032.
