Jean Barthelme Regas was born to Francis and Evelyn (Hahn) Barthelme on August 17, 1933 in Sainte Marie, a small town in Illinois which has remained close to her heart. She moved to Indianapolis in 1951 and was an instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and a stewardess at Lake Central Airlines.
In 1955 she married William J. Regas and they started their family with Margo Lynn Regas, Indianapolis, and Jon Barth Regas (Monika Bruendler), Basel, Switzerland.
Jean volunteered in many charitable organizations at the children’s schools. She was a charter member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church.
She later became a successful Realtor finally retiring in 1995.
Jean and Bill were world travelers and visited every continent but Antarctica.
In addition to her children she is also survived by her nephews, David and Eric Barthelme of Las Vegas. Jean also leaves grand nephews and many cousins whose friendship she cherished.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William who died in June 2015 after 58 years of marriage, her sister Elizabeth Lynn Barthelme, and her brother Ted Barthelme.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:30 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 4-7 at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Interment to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
