Joseph Jasper Minnis was born August 22, 1924 to the late Jasper and Gladys Tatro Minnis in Carrollton, Missouri. Joe graduated from Purdue University and proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for Eli Lilly and Company for 38 years, and spent time living in London, England and Sydney, Australia.
Joe was a committed member of The Sertoma Club of Broadripple and a longtime member of Woodland Country Club and the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Council. Joe and his wife Marjory were members of St Luke’s Catholic Church for 40 years. He was a man dedicated to his faith and family, and was much loved by his surviving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marjory Meyers Minnis, his grateful children; Joseph (Karen) Minnis, Susan (Thomas) Souls and Elizabeth (Louis Gudema) Minnis, dear grandchildren; Aaron, Whitney, Joseph, Ryan, Sydney, Lenore, Kelly, and Eleana, and great-grandchildren Hannah and Jasper. He was preceded in death by brothers Jack and Mark Minnis.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am - 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 14th at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 am. Private Entombment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
