Nunzio Bruno, Jr.
January 25, 1921 – December 25, 2020
Nunzio Bruno Jr. or Charlie as he was better known, passed away peacefully in his sleep between Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. He left us just one month shy of his 100th birthday.
Charlie was a native of Indianapolis, the eldest son of the late Nunzio and Philomena Bruno. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Butler University. A World War II veteran, Charlie served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Rim on Guadalcanal as an airplane maintenance technician.
Returning to Indianapolis following the war, Charlie married the love of his life, the late Jenny Louise Bruno, who preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his loving sister, Mary Jane Brink, brother-in-law, Paul Brink and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his five children, Karen (Dick) Culp, Barbara (Dick) Peterson, Bernie (Susan) Bruno, Tony Bruno and Kevin (Susan) Bruno. Charlie is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. His family influence stretched across the globe, and his love of his family was paralleled only by his life-long love of the Chicago Cubs.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 30th at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel. Please join Charlie’s family via livestream at 12:45 at: www.leppertmortuary.com. Select Charlie’s Tribute page to “Join Livestream”
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in his name to Alzheimer’s Association.
