Patricia Lynn Wood, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana peacefully went home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 with her kids by her side. Patricia was born on October 31, 1952 in Grove City, Pennsylvania to the late Lois (Allen) and Robert F. Cornelius.

Patricia moved away from her hometown of Grove City at a young age, and settled in Muncie, Indiana for the remainder of her childhood. She attended Muncie Central High School where she was an avid swimmer and cheerleader. She graduated in 1971. Once out of school, Patricia began her career with Boehringer Mannheim working as a production scheduler for many years. She left her position there to begin the most important career she had ever had; motherhood. Patricia raised 2 children with her, now former, husband Robert.

Her friends and family would describe her as having a heart of gold. She would help others in any way that she could, many times it would be to offer a prayer for those in need. Patricia was a devoted Christian, she lived her life serving the Lord and spreading his message no matter where she was.

She leaves behind a family that loved her more than anything, her children; Kelly Wood (Taylor Hatfield), and Jeremy Wood, her grandchildren; Mackenzie Wood, Ava King, and Roger Hatfield, her nieces; Tami Powell (Cedric), Kristi Segall (Brian), and her nephew; Jason Cornelius (Jessica). Also surviving is her companion of 24 years; Gerhard Jorgensen and her former husband; Robert Wood.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother; Robert W. Cornelius and her sister; Joyce Beymer.

I lived in Halteman Village right up the road from Patty. Both our families were transferred from Pennsylvania through Westinghouse. From 5th grade on we ran around together. Patty, Joyce and I. We had terrific neighborhood friends and we played kick ball, waffle ball, had talent contests in the driveway and swam everyday at Halteman Pool. We were on the swim team together for several years. I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had together and the crazy things we did. Once after the pool closed for the season, we climbed the fence and went swimming , jumping off the diving boards and having a ball until we got caught. I just have memory after memory of Patty and Joyce, too many to tell. I am so sorry she is gone and I never had a chance to reconnect. I know she had a huge ❤ heart. I am so sorry for your loss! Mama Wood was a mother to all of us growing up. She always fed us girls at all hours of the night. We would dance and sing, without a care in the world, to Steve Miller's Band, the Cranberries, and Tracy Chapman. Mama Wood had a heart of gold and was like a second mom to me. She will be deeply missed by many. I promise to look after Kelly & Jeremy, just like I promised you. Rest easy. Gone, but never forgotten. Give Scotty dog a hug & kiss for me. Until we meet again❤

I don't think I ever saw her without that beautiful smile on her, whether it was in the halls of Central or on the Fieldhouse floor cheering on our Bearcats. She will be missed by many 😢 💔

Patty and I both lived in Halteman Village in Muncie in the late 60s/early 70s. She was beautiful, funny, and always kind to all......I was always happy to see her and say hi. I think she certainly had her fair share of heart break, but let's face it...that is part of the life experience. I know she spread joy for others wherever she went. Patty, I hope you knew how loved you were, and I hope to visit you in heaven some day.

Mom,
I have so many memories of you that I will hold near and dear to my heart forever and always. You were my best friend and always will be. No one will ever know me like you do..We'll always be together like I told you. I promise to take care of Jeremy like you asked me to. Until we meet again my faithful, beautiful, sweet, loving, caring, comedic and unique Mom.... I love you eternally.

Patti was always so sweet to everyone. The last time I saw her she was with Mary Starkey at our night before the reunion gathering in downtown Muncie and she was doing great. So sad to hear of her passing. She will be missed.

My love and sympathy to Kelly and Taylor and all the family.... I enjoyed getting to know Patty via Facebook. She always had something sweet to say about the photos and news that I would post. I know I'd have loved to be able to meet her in person if this pandemic had not prevented that.... May God bless her soul....
