Seth Corbin Greathouse sailed over the horizon and out of sight on May 7, 2026, at the age of 53. Born on April 1, 1973, he was the son of Wendy Franey Lyons (Lloyd, deceased) and Larry Greathouse (Julie). He was the loving brother of Cy Greathouse, Abigail Hamrick (Jake), Emily Douglas (J.R.), Scott Reeder (Tiffany) and Chris Lyons. He was the the first to test the waters and create a smoother wake for his deeply loved siblings.
Seth grew up in North Vernon, Indiana, where he graduated from high school before attending Indiana University, earning a degree in religious studies. He was a prolific reader and gifted musician.
He cherished his years performing with the bands Showermast, Chamberlain, and Chevy Downs, where music brought him joy, camaraderie, and lifelong brotherhood. Beyond music, he found fulfillment and a strong sense of purpose in his career with the Indiana Department of Health. He will be remembered for his affability, sharp intellect, quiet contentment, and deeply held liberal values.
Friends and family are invited to a casual gathering in his memory on Saturday, May 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Entourage in North Vernon, Indiana.
In recognition of his lifelong love of music, memorial contributions may be made to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting musicians and music industry professionals in times of need.
