Susan Elizabeth (Emrich) Butz, age 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away June 18, 2025, at The Commons on Meridian. She was born September 15, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Carl Emrich and Betty (Leiendecker) Emrich. She attended North Central High School and graduated in the Class of 1967, before attending Ball State University. While she had other occupations over the years, most will remember Susie from her decades as a travel agent. This work prompted a lifelong love of travel and Susie truly saw the world in this capacity, traveling all over the United States as well as much of Europe and parts of Asia. At home she was involved in her community, as a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, the Alliance of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Family Support Center, Starlighters, and the Art League. In her free time, Susie loved watching NASCAR races and was an exceptionally talented cook. She was a dog lover and enjoyed spending the holidays with her family.
Susie was preceded in death by both parents. Surviving her are several cousins and her godson Scott (Sarah) Wallace of Noblesville, Indiana. We also want to acknowledge the great attention and care that was given to her by so many these last few years, but with special notice of the staff at The Commons on Meridian, Brighton Hospice, and Karen Ackerman of Alongside You, who began as her care advocate and became her dear friend. A private funeral service will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery and an additional celebration of Susie’s life will be held at The Commons on Meridian, 8549 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 13 at 1 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society at https://indyhumane.org
