Trained as a registered nurse, Suzy also worked as a flight attendant and later as a small business owner. She was remembered most by her family for her many roles, including homemaker, driver, the world’s best sports mom, animal lover, grandmother, devoted wife of 44 years and the one who made her home the place for family and friends to congregate.
She enjoyed her Catholic faith, her gardens, an occasional cocktail, and will be remembered for her laid back charm and for always having a smile.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Richard A. Brickley; parents, Helen Owen and Jack Slusser; step-father, Dr. John E. Owen; step-siblings, Johnny Owen, Margaret Miller, Dr. Richard Owen, and sister-in-law Jean Diann Balaguras.
She will be missed by her brother-in-law Dr. Harry Brickley; children, Dinah Olson, Sarah Brickley, Rick Brickley (Stacy Sweeney), Laura Wakeley (Peter Wakeley) and Andrew Brickley (Shelita Dattani) as well as her grandchildren, Ethan, Gabrielle, Nicole, Niam, Maala and Saia.
A family graveside service will be held Thursday, December 17 at 3:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton, Indiana.
