

MacNeil, Alexander Daniel - 66, Port Hood, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 27,1944, Alex Dan was the youngest of twelve children born to the late Charlie and Jessie Bell MacNeil (of Glencoe Station). Alex Dan was a welder with the Boilermakers Union, Local 73 for 30 years. He was a member of the Port Hood Volunteer Fire Department, always willing to lend a hand. He loved music and playing his guitar, and was a huge Montreal Canadiens fan. Alex Dan is survived by his wife of 38 years, Georgina, who was constantly by his side during his illness; his children, Mark (Joanne), Gina (Perry), and David; and his precious granddaughter, River Isabella. He is also survived by sisters, Mary, Sally (Dan Joe); brothers, Charlie (Carole) and Stanley; sisters-in-law, Tena (Donnie), Rachel (Gerry); and brother-in-law, Francis MacDonell (Catherine). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Donnie, Gerry, and Bernie; and sisters, Theresa, Peggy, Jennie, and Catherine. Visitation will be held at Port Hood Resting Place on Sunday, January 30th from 2-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Peter's Church, Port Hood on Monday, January 31 at 11a.m., Fr. Victor Ozoufunanya officiating.
