Ann loved to work with the elderly. After meeting her husband John in Halifax while he served in the Canadian Navy, she studied in her chosen career of nursing; they quickly fell in love (1970).
In 1972 they moved to Montreal where they married. She worked in Montreal at a nursing home until they decided to move back to Cape Breton (1976). First into Mabou Harbour with childhood friend Gayle and Harold MacDonald, and eventually settling in Port Hood 1976 to 1987, then to Inverness.
During her career in Cape Breton, she worked for 20 years in Inverary Manor, Inverness. She was a proud personal care worker and was respectable to all clients in her care. She had a playful side while working too; pulling pranks on follow colleagues (especially night shift crew) making sure laughter was part of her career. She loved those residents and her work friends dearly. She retired due to an injury in 1996.
Besides loving her family, Ann loved camping, gardening, shopping for mostly everyone except herself. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother, but best of all, a great supporting spouse, companion and lover.
