

MacDonnell-Harding, Catherine Mae (Kaye) – 88 of Scotsville/Lower Sackville passed peacefully into Gods Glory, March 24, 2013 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital with family members at her side. She was born in Broad Cove Banks on Nov 11, 1924 to the late Mary Janet and Hughie Dan MacDonnell. Kaye was predeceased by her partner John W. Thibault (1960), husband, Stan Harding (2011), sister Christina (late Donald Shaw), brother, Donald James (late Audrey) and Stepson Floyd Thibault. She is survived by her daughter, Marie (Andre) Hyland and step daughter, Evelyn Schumacher, sisters, Johnena (late John Alex MacLellan), Mary Merlin (Greg), Sadie (late Herb Burton), Penny (Rannie) Kennedy, brothers, Hughie (Phyllis), Dougall, Harold (late Beatrice) and Jim (Susan), many neices and nephews. Music played a major part of Kaye’s life from an early age, with kitchen parties at her parents’ home in Deepdale, and later years playing fiddle at the Broad Cove Concerts. She also took part in Old Time Fiddling Contests in Halifax Metro area, and won numerous trophies. After retiring from Acadian Lines Bus Co. Ltd as terminal manager with 26 years of service she returned to Cape Breton and resided in Scotsville for many years, then later to Port Hawkesbury and for the last 8 months at Inverary Manor receiving excellent care and reunited with many of her former friends. Kaye will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched. Visitation will be held in Inverness Funeral Home on Sunday, March 31st 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 1st at 11am in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating, burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
