

Hugh Joseph MacPherson, 68, of Blackstone, passed away peacefully in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 28th, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after a short but bravely fought battle with cancer.
Born in Inverness on December 30,1948, he was a son of the late Donald Joe and Flora Jane (MacLellan) MacPherson.
Hughie is survived by his loving spouse, Audrey Fraser; his children, Laurie Hopkins (John), Porter's Lake; Kerry Comeau (Steven), Middle Sackville; Kenny Fraser (Kinnon), Lower Sackville; his grandsons, Jacob and Joshua; brothers, Andrew (Myrtle), Brampton, Ont.; Donald A (Diane), West Lake Ainslie; sisters, Annabelle "D.D." Gillis, Blackstone; Mary Catherine (Stewart) Gillis, SW Margaree; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Allan MacPherson and grand-niece, Diane "DiDi".
Hughie was a carpenter and fisherman. He built houses for many years and fished gaspereau on the Margaree River. He loved the simple things in life like fiddle music, a good cup of tea with homemade biscuits, his 22 year old cat LouLou, and being surrounded by his family.
Hughie was a kind man known for his sense of humour. He was a friend to all that knew him and will be profoundly missed.
Visitation will take place in Inverness Funeral Home on Friday, September 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 2nd at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, West Lake Ainslie with Fr. Bernie MacDonald officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, West Lake Ainslie.
