Jennifer passed away peacefully at the age of 52 on December 22, 2023 in the Foyer Pere Fiset Nursing home in Cheticamp, NS.
Jennifer lived in Port Hood most of her life and was willing to lend a hand whenever anyone needed help in her community. She loved to laugh and was always ready for a good joke even though she was never very good at telling them. She enjoyed rides in the truck and the beautiful scenery of the place she called home where she lived most of her life until she could no longer be independent. Jennifer was diagnosed 37 years ago with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 15. She was a determined soul and fought the disease with a smile on her face. When she would fall she would get right back up again, always willing and wanting to try again until her body would no longer allow it.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and palliative care volunteers at the Foyer Pere Fiset Nursing Home in Cheticamp for the wonderful care and compassion she received while in their care. Jennifer was predeceased by her parents, Donald Joseph and Mary Georgina.
She is survived by her sons, JJ and Alex Rankin (Mabou); brother, Ronnie, Port Hood; sisters, Mary (Milo) Negulic, Bedford and Denise (Todd) Buffett, Port Hawkesbury. She will also be missed by her nephews, Cameron, Luke and Niko as well as her niece, Anna; also, Sandy Harris, a special friend and companion at Pere Fiset, will miss her dearly as well.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held in St. Peter's Church, Port Hood from 10-10:45 am on Friday January 5th with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am.
