

Age 84, Judique, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, with her daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Robert by her side. She was born on Friday April 8, 1932, in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Joan worked as an administrative assistant for Tedeschi Food Shops in Massachusetts before retiring to Cape Breton, where she was able to live by the ocean. She was known for her immense talent in gardening and crafting, having projects for both constantly on the go. Her plants, herbs, jams and preserves were sought after by many.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janet (Bob), Cape Cod; Diane (Robert) of Judique; siblings, Bill (Helen), Evie, and Mary (Jimmy); grandchildren, Chuck (Kim), Michael (Julie), Katie (Jeff), Robbie (Jillian) and Stacy; and great grandchildren: Michael, Bobby, Olivia, Tobin, Owen, and is special “Great Gran” to Matthew. Joan was predeceased by her parents, spouses and siblings.
Heartfelt thanks go out to the staffs at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital and the Inverness County Home Support for their compassionate care of Grammie. No visitation is scheduled and the funeral mass will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Judique Fire Department and the St. Andrews Parish in memory of Joan Alice Murphy.
