

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Lauretta (Lottie) MacInnis, age 74, of Port Hood at Inverness Memorial Consolidated Hospital on January 12th, 2015.
Born on November 24th, 1940 to the late Bridget and Daniel Matheson of Georgetown, PEI. She lived in Toronto, Ontario where she worked as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company of Canada. This is where she met her Cape Breton sweetheart, Joe 'The Oil' MacInnis. They married on October 24th, 1959 and gave birth to their only son Allan in 1960. They moved back to Port Hood in 1964 where she worked at the Port Hood Co-op for 35 years until she retired in 2000.
Lottie will be remembered as a loving and kind mother, grandmother and friend. She was a fierce crib player, could bowl and dance with the best of them. Her door was always open and welcomed everyone who walked through it with open arms.
She is predeceased by her late husband Joseph MacInnis (1987), and survived by her partner AJ Beaton who has been her loving and constant companion for the last 25 years, her son Allan (Tish), Port Hood, grandchildren, Missy (Paul Brinson), Hammonds Plains, Damian (Brenna), Port Hood, Mitchell, Port Hood, great-grandchildren Joseph and Ben, as well as many sisters and brothers in law and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Palliative Care Nurse Lori Ann MacDonald and the continuing care nurses for all their constant attention and care they gave over the past year.
Visitation will be held at the Port Hood Resting Place Thursday January 15th, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral mass will be held in St. Peter's Church, Port Hood on Friday January 16th, 2 p.m. with Fr. Vincent VanZutphen officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery at a later date. Donations can be made to the Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice.
