

With heavy hearts, the family would like to announce the passing of our beloved “Marilyn”. She passed away peacefully with her cousin, Donalda Timmons-MacEachern by her side and entered Heavens gates on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital at the age of 78.
Marilyn was a daughter of Joseph Gany and Melina Mariah Clark born on December 9th 1938 in New Waterford. At the age of 6 months after her mother’s passing she was relocated to Inverness and raised by her grandparents, James and Maria Clark.
Marilyn was a proud resident of MacLean Street. She had a passion for animals, love for knitting, a kind and generous heart for all. Throughout her life she worked as a caregiver within different homes in the community. She was known for her witty personality and was delighted to hear the score of the game, announcements of wedding proposals and the new baby arrivals. She became a resident of the Inverary Manor at the age of 76 and was warmly welcomed by all during her 3 year residency.
Marilyn is survived by her brother, Emile “Sunny” (Wilma) Gany and sisters, Josephine (Don) Whale, Rennie (James “Jim”) Patashneick, Flora (Jermaine “Jerry”) Martel.
Marilyn will be especially missed by her extended family, Donalda MacEachern and her children, Daniel (wife Nikki, Samantha, Shelby and Lizzi), Jason (wife Kara, Hallie, Meah, Lauchie), Cathy MacEachern, Kelly (Ethan, Brock) MacLean, as well as the family decedents of Lizzi and Henry Timmons and all those who knew and loved this beautiful lady. Her strong and courageous heart will continue to beat and shine on through all who loved her dearly. May you rest in peace and happiness Marilyn.
The family wishes to thank all care givers at the Inverary Manor for all their kindness, generosity and exceptional care. A special thanks to Dr. Susan Egar for her attentive continuing care including the doctors and nurses at the Inverness Memorial hospital , Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the Halifax Infirmary,QEII and the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Center.
Memorial services and celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Monday, February 6th in St Mathews United Church, Inverness with visitation from 1-1:45 pm with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Maggie Plant celebrating. Burial will take place in Corner Cemetery at a later date.
