Mary Elizabeth Hannigan

Hannigan Mary Elizabeth “Betty”, Age 54, we regret to announce the passing of our mother, Betty, who passed away on Sunday July 19, 2015, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, after a long but courageous fight with cancer.

Betty was a daughter of the late Greg and Hughena (Young) Hannigan.

She was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Inverness, and was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved to spend time with her family and the local race track. Betty will be missed by all who came to know her.

Betty is survived by her long life partner Gerald Wrywas; daughter, Brittany; and sons, Bobby and Kenneth Hannigan. She is also survived by, sisters, Colleen Hawley, Port Hood; and Debarah, Inverness; brother, Raymond, Port Hawkesbury; several nieces and nephews.

Betty is predeceased by her brother, Brian.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, on Wednesday July 22, from 10 -10:45 a.m., with funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m., Fr. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice.
