Born in Inverness on April 10, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm Dan and Annie (Gillis) MacLellan.
She was a member of Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Inverness.
A very private and gentle person, she tried to live by the adage “if you can’t say anything good about someone, don’t say anything at all”.
Mary was a graduate of St Francis Xavier University.
Mary spent most of her teaching career in St Peter’s. Upon retirement she returned to her hometown of Inverness.
Mary enjoyed travelling and visiting local restaurants with her friends. She was an avid and discerning reader.
She loved to both bake and cook and happily shared the products from her kitchen with family and friends.
Mary loved animals especially her beloved dog, Juno.
Mary is the last surviving child of Malcolm Dan and Annie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Marjorie, Freddie, Mary Josephine (in infancy), Johnnie, Elizabeth, Jerome, Alexander, Malcolm, Gregory, Eugene, Harold, Leonard, and very dear friend, Jim Jackson.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Marlene and Joan and brother-in-law, Roland; her 13 nieces and nephews, Anne Marie, Donnie, Bradley, Joan, Robyn, Rhonda, Jeffrey, Eric, Cheryl, Tanya, Mark, Jennifer, Lenny and several grand nieces and nephews as well as great grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass for the late Mary MacLellan will be held on Friday August 25 at 11:00 am in Stella Maris Church, Inverness with Rev. Bernie MacDonald and Rev. Daniel Tshimbalanga officiating. Visitation will take place in the church from 10:00 – 10:45 am.
