Born November 8th 1948 in Inverness, Mary was a daughter of the late Bernie and Lila Beaton, the youngest of six children. Mary’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially her girls. She was an avid lover of country music and was fortunate to have travelled to numerous cities such as Nashville, Toronto, and Montreal to attend music concerts. She looked forward to her getaways to Florida with her girls, where she relaxed in the backyard sipping on coffee while enjoying the peaceful scenery, and going for daily tours around the grounds in the golf cart.
When she wasn’t out and about traveling and concert going, she spent most of her time in Port Hood with her sister, Annie; niece, Margie and her niece’s husband, Jack. This time spent with them were precious moments to her. Mary will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart, and for doing anything she could for those she loved. She was famous for giving away her homemade biscuits, peanut butter balls, apple pies and pizza. Mary was known as “Mama Bear” to many who loved her and to whom she loved dearly. She will hold you all in her heart forever.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Bernie LaPierre; parents, Bernie & Lila Beaton; brothers, John & Louis Beaton; and sister, Tena MacDougall.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rose, Janice (Ken), Crystal (Scott); son, Brian (Tressa); granddaughter, Megan; brother, Dan Joe Beaton; sister, Annie MacDonald; niece, Margie MacDonald (Jack); godsons, Blaise MacDonnell (Paula) and Brandon MacDonald. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as countless other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 16th, 2024 from 10:30am -12:30pm in Inverness Funeral Home, with Funeral Mass to follow at 1pm in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Broad Cove.

"God saw you getting tired
and the cure was not to be
So He put his arms around you
and whispered,
“Come to Me”
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A Golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best"
