

Munro, Murdena Catherine - 83, Margaree Harbour, died peacefully April 21, 2011, surrounded by her loving family in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Iron Mines, she was the only daughter of the late Alex and Mary (MacInnis) MacKinnon and the last surviving member of her immediate family. As a member of the Calvin United Church, she was an Elder, Past President of The Lydia Women's Group and a choir member for many years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was the proprietor of "The Riverside Inn" where she enjoyed introducing hundreds of tourists to the Margarees. A multi-talented craftswomam, she willing shared the hand embroidered pieces she prouly created. She was an avid reader, "tasty" cook, card carrying member of the Liberal Party and long time correspondent to The Inverness Oran. A stong cup of tea or having a "jilac" with friends, while holding the trump cards on Saturday night was hard to surpass.
She is survived by her children, Fran (Don) Duggan, Annapolis Royal; Sandy (Bernice), Terre Noire; Mary (Norm) MacDougall, Whycocomagh; and Jennifer (Emile) AuCoin, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Christopher, Katie, Ryan, Mike, Terri-Lynn and Mikayla; sisters-in-law, Shriley Munro and Ulva MacKinnon; and several neices and nephews. She was predeceased by loving husband of 57 years, Jim Munro; brothers, Donald and Hugh; brother-in-law, David; and sisters-in-law Allaire, Gertrude and Betty.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, in the Inverness Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Murdena's life will be held on Wednesday, April 27 at 11am, at the Calvin United Church, Margaree Harbour; Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Interment will take place at the Whale Cove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Whale Cove Cemetery Fund or charity of choice.
