Sarah Mae Campbell

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sarah Mae (Rankin) Campbell, 90, of Inverness, announce her death on January 31, 2025 in Inverary Manor, Inverness. She died peacefully surrounded by her children and extended family.

Sarah Mae was a daughter of the late John Colin Rankin and Margaret (Mac Lean, Rankin) Walker, and a member of Stella Maris Parish, Inverness.

Sarah worked different jobs throughout her life and volunteered for a few community based activities including the Inverness food bank, Brownies and Stella Maris Parish under Father Duncan MacIsaac. She loved being social and smiled at everyone she encountered leaving them feeling happy and special.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Inverary Manor for making Sarah Mae's last years so very special and for their wonderful care of our mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, she loved you all.

Sarah Mae is survived by the prides of her life, Donna (Vaughan) Evans, St Rose, Vincent (Cecilia) Campbell, Mabou; four beautiful grandchildren, Lucas and Logan Evans, Kaden and Maria Campbell.

She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Rankin) Dobbin, Port Hood; brothers, Gerard (Stella) Walker, Port Hood, Jimmy (Arlene) Walker, Mira River; in-laws, Jimmy Campbell (Porters Lake), LIoyd (RoseAnne) Campbell, (Inverness), Barbara Campbell, (Sackville), Lauchina Campbell, (Sackville), Angus L. Campbell, (Inverness), Gussie (Valerie) Campbell, (Sackville), Alex Sutherland, (Port Hood); and many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.

Special mention to her goddaughter, Coleen (Dobbin) Mac Issac and niece, Sheila (Dobbin) Cannon, who always made sure she was well taken care of.

She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Edward (Eddy) Campbell; sister, Jessie Rankin; sister in infancy, Mary Ann Rankin; her stepfather, Thomas Walker and brothers-in-law, Chuck Dobbin, Ainslie Mac Master, Dan C. Campbell, Jack Campbell, Archie Campbell; sisters-in-laws, Jessie Campbell, Catherine (Girlie) Mac Master, Mary Sutherland and Darlene Campbell.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 5th from 3-7pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, February 6th, at 11 am in Stella Maris Parish Church, Inverness with Fr. Daniel officiating. Burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or Inverness Food Bank.
