Darlene Phillips, a devoted and humorous presence in the lives of many, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Jimmie and Flossie Mae Stovall on October 28, 1947, she was known for her lighthearted spirit and hard-working nature.
Darlene graduated from S.H. Rider High School in 1966. She initially pursued a career as a cosmetologist for several years before transitioning to a role as a special education teacher aide and bus driver with Iowa Park ISD.
In 1968, Darlene married John Phillips in Wichita Falls, commencing a wonderful journey that enriched the lives of their family. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, a beloved mother to her sons Michael Phillips (Jennifer Phillips) and Mark Phillips (Karima Phillips), and a cherished figure to her grandchildren Justin Phillips (Jessica Phillips), Weslee Phillips (Josie Phillips), Jaci Phillips, Zina Frazier, Adam Frazier, and great-grandson Alan James Phillips.
Darlene's personal life was filled with creative pursuits, as she was an avid lover of crafts and crafting. She found joy in her furry companions, her dogs Popeye, Seamus, and Kitty, and enjoyed watching TV, particularly westerns, always with a Dr Pepper in hand. Known for always having her hair and nails done, Darlene's spirited personality left a mark on all who knew her.
In her community, she was actively involved in supporting her sons' participation in the 4H Club and FFA. Her dedication to her family and her community resonates deeply, leaving a lasting legacy of love and warmth.
A Chapel Memorial Service will be held in her honor at Dutton Funeral Home's Chapel located at 300 E Cash St, Iowa Park, Texas, on February 16, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Her final resting place will be at Highland Cemetery, 826 Rogers Rd, Iowa Park. Darlene's family expresses special thanks to Hospice Plus and Cedar Hollow Nursing Home in Sherman, Texas, for their care and support.
Darlene's laughter, devotion, and spirited way of life will be remembered fondly by all who were lucky enough to know her.
