Edna Corene Davis

Edna Corene (Darnell) Davis, 92, a 42 year resident of Iowa Park, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Corene was born May 20, 1922 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Malvin Kirkland and Jewel Mae (Tucker) Darnell. She married Guss Odie “G.O.” Davis on September 13, 1938 in Boswell. She was a homemaker who loved quilting, crocheting, playing games, and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Corene always made it her goal to make her family happy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Corene is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Joanie Hankins; one great grandson, Lester Thomas “Rowdy” Sargent, III; five brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Melba Bush and Glenda Galliton, both of Randlett, Oklahoma; one sister, Elois Willis of Henryetta, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
