

On December 14, 2014 Frankie Lou (Day) Staber went home to the Lord. Funeral services will be held at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Isaac Butterworth, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.
Frankie was the youngest of five children born to B.F. and Emma (White) Day near Anson in Jones County, Texas. She was born August 19, 1925. When she was 8, the family moved to Dawson County. She graduated from Wichita Falls Senior High School in 1943.
She received her BBA degree from Texas Tech University in Accounting (with honors) in 1946. Frankie was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant for over 45 years. She was the sixth female CPA in Texas, helping to pave the way for thousands of women CPA’s in the state. She was a member of The American Institute of CPA’s, The Texas Society of CPA’s, the Wichita Chapter, as well as the Texas Association of Cooperative Accountants.
Frankie married John F. Staber on December 28, 1958, the last couple married in the sanctuary of the old First Presbyterian Church at Tenth and Broad. She has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Adelphia Sunday School class for well over 58 years. Frankie loved to cook and host Sunday School parties and was always one of the first to show her love by taking meals to sick friends and neighbors.
She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 65 years, having been elected to every office more than once and having been selected most outstanding Girl of the Year twice. Frankie was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 237 for over 65 years.
Frankie loved to travel. She and John visited Mexico, Canary Islands, Africa, Hawaii and took several cruises in the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, Alaska, New Zealand, Tasmania, and Australia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Staber, on May 6, 2004, her parents, three brothers – Clarence, Raymond and Marion Day, and a sister Reta (Day) Stevens.
Frankie is survived by two sons – James Paul Staber and wife, Sherry, of Plano, Texas, and David Fred Staber and wife, Shonnye, of Coppell. She adored her four grandchildren – Megan, Preston, Cassidy and Mackenzie Staber. She is also survived by a nephew she helped raise – Weldon Day and wife, Nancy, of Wichita Falls, and their daughter Claire Geppelt and husband, Josh, of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews; great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews; as well as a host of friends.
