Hester Lewis Lewis Clark

Hester was born on November 8, 1914, to Dempsey Daniel Lewis and Bertha McAdams Lewis, in Pollok, Angelina County, Texas. She lived for many years in Chillicothe, Iowa Park, and Lubbock, Texas. She was married to Fred Allen Clark Sr. for over 50 years and they were the parents of five children. Those preceding her in death include her husband, Fred Clark; three sons, F. A. Clark Jr., Dan Clark, and Dennis Clark; and a great granddaughter, Amber Clark. She was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Clark, and Betty Clark Flournoy and her husband Jim, of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 32 great- great grandchildren, and 1 great- great-great grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, Oleta McCubbin of Wichita Falls, Texas, and many precious nieces and nephews.

Hester had a great love for reading. She loved to start the first day of the New Year and read the Bible daily. She would finish it by the end of the year, and did this for many consecutive years. She was a good and faithful servant to her Lord. She was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church of Lubbock for 26 years and was also a member of the Sonshiner Choir.

In addition to reading, her interests included church activities, travel, craft work, music, and cooking. She loved poetry, and quoted many poems from memory to family members. She enjoyed singing in choirs and for family members. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with her family to almost every state in the US, plus Canada and Mexico.

She was a wonderful Mother. She taught her children the right way to live, and set a wonderful example. After her children were grown, she worked for the Iowa Park Independent School District and retired after 15 years. For her children, she was their “Treasure”; and life, here on earth, will never be quite the same without her. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends

Visitation will be held from 12 PM until 1:30 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the chapel at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, Texas, with services following at 2 PM with Rev. Dennis Neal officiating. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park.
