Kathryn L. Stephenson

IOWA PARK – Mother’s steadfast faith in and love for her Savior were rewarded on the evening of April 9, 2011, when He called her home. “I am always with You, Lord; You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You take me into glory” (Psalm 73:23-24) were the words written on the paper with her last instructions.

Kathryn Stephenson joined her beloved husband, Everett, to whom she was married for 58-1/2 years before he passed in October 2004. Waiting for her also were her grandson, Christopher Everett Jackson, and her parents, Arnold and Annie Bowden, to whom she was born on September 3, 1929.

Left to await reunion are her daughter Pamela and husband Bill Jackson of Nocona; granddaughter, Nichole and husband Bryan Barrett and children Callie Nichole, Taylor Everett and Kathryn Elizabeth Barrett of Pilot Point; great-grandson David Everett Jackson with his mother Rachel and her husband Mike Jones of Morgan Mill. She is also survived by her sisters and their families: Annabelle Hammonds of Iowa Park and her children, Bruce, Don and Steve and their families and Hazel Fox of Rock Island, Illinois and her children, Connie, Mike, Vickie, Alice and Susan and their families and niece, Barbara Gullatt and family.

Kathryn worked 25 years for the Army/Air Force Exchange retiring in 1990 as Warehouse Manager. In retirement she volunteered for the Friendly Door of Iowa Park delivering Meals on Wheels and working in the kitchen. She volunteered as a hostess preparing meals for funeral services in the First Baptist Church to which she had belonged since 1948. Her humble service was honored in 2010 when she received an award for “Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year”.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lamoin Champ of Nocona, Texas officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park, Texas.

Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel.
