Mary Elizabeth Claybrook

Liz was born on July 23, 1940, in Pelzer, South Carolina, to her parents, Martha "Mildred Lark-Fletcher and Irvin Creed Hawkins. She carried throughout her life the warm and generous spirit that first defined her in childhood. Liz was known for her outgoing personality, friendly nature, and her ability to make anyone she met feel welcome.

A compassionate and caring person, Liz devoted much of her time to serving others. She was especially passionate about her volunteer work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the First Step program, where she generously gave her time helping those in need. Her dedication to service reflected both her kindness and her deep commitment to her community.

Liz was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Carl Lee Claybrook Jr.; her mother, Martha "Mildred" Lark-Hawkins-Fletcher of Pelzer, South Carolina; her father, Irvin Creed Hawkins of Columbia, South Carolina; and her two daughters, Sandra Lee Stewart and Kelly Claybrook.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Cody Buckley and her husband, David Buckley, of Slidell, Louisiana, and her cherished grandson, Garrett Andrew Buckley, also of Slidell, Louisiana.

Liz will be remembered for her generous heart, her vibrant personality, and the warmth she shared with family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.

A visitation service will be held at Dutton Funeral Home, 300 East Cash Street, Iowa Park, TX 763672013, on March 12, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, TX 76367, on March 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a favorite charity or organization in Liz's name.
