William Thomas Duncan, lovingly known as “Tom,” passed away peacefully at his home in Iowa Park, Texas, on June 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Surrounded by his devoted family — including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — Tom left this world wrapped in love, just one day before what would have been his and his beloved wife’s 66th wedding anniversary.
Born in 1937, Tom lived a full life built on faith, love, and quiet strength. While visiting DeKalb, Texas, he met Frances, the love of his life. Just two weeks after meeting, the two married — beginning a remarkable union that spanned more than six decades and weathered every season with grace and devotion.
Tom served his country honorably in the United States Army for three years. After his service, he spent his career as a respected agent for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, upholding the law with integrity and earning the respect of colleagues and his community. Outside of work, Tom found joy in the simple things: he loved fishing in peaceful waters, hunting in the quiet stillness of nature, and keeping up with current events — rarely missing his daily time watching Fox News. These passions reflected who he was: thoughtful, observant, and connected to the world around him. He would have offered the shirt off his back to help a stranger.
Above all, Tom was a family man. He was a proud and loving father to his son, William Todd, and his daughter, Gina Lynette. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always ready with a story, a smile, or a bit of wisdom that only he could offer.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances, daughter Gina and husband David Blackerby, grandchildren Daron and wife Jamie Blackerby, Kenzie and husband Zack Catherall, Peyton and husband Felipe Deanda, Rhegan and husband Deven Smith, Hagen Duncan, Denea and husband Justin Gulley & 12 great grandchildren. One brother David and wife Gloria Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Todd Duncan. His parents Ober Alvin & Myrtle Mae Duncan. His siblings Mildred, Martha, Bonnie, Alvin, Ronald and Grandson Heath Hodges.
Tom’s presence was a gift — steady, kind, and rooted in love. His legacy will live on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories shared around the table, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
A visitation for William will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Dutton Funeral Home, 300 East Cash Street, Iowa Park, TX 76367. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Dutton Funeral Home.
