Anita Derrick Weed

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt, Anita Ann Derrick Weed, age 91, of Irmo, SC, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the day before her 92nd birthday. She was born in Columbia, SC and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Lula Mae Metz Derrick.

Anita was a graduate of Irmo High School and the first Peach Queen of Lexington County. She married Brady D. Weed, Sr. and they were married for over 59 years until his passing. They were former owners of AB&R Trophy Company and Weed Barbeque. She was a faithful servant and a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She was kind, selfless, a great cook, a hard worker, devoted wife, loving mother, a sister, a grandmother and so many things, but words cannot capture her legacy, her sayings, or the devotion of love to her family.

She was predeceased in death by her parents; husband, Brady Weed, Sr.; sisters, Luvelle D. Terrio, Katherine D. Rich; brother Eugene Derick; daughter-in-law, Dell Weed; and grandson, Brady D. Weed, III "Tripp."

Anita is survived by her three loving sons, Brady Jr., Ronnie (Joanie), and Allen (Shay); grandchildren; Travis Weed (Allison), Kelli Covington (Trey), Katelyn Lowden (Chase), Claire Weed, step grandchildren, Sean and Jenna Flathmann; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lorine W. Shealy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Generations in Irmo and Lowman Home for their tender care of Anita.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. A private burial will be held at Salem United Methodist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Weed, John Wyatt Weed, Derrick Weed, James Weed, Drew Weed, and Cale Weed. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Terrio, Bobby Weed, Ken Boland, Jimmy Shealy, Randy Price, Trey Covington, Chase Lowden, and Sean Flathmann.
