Barbara Anne Wilkinson

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Barbara Anne Wilkinson, 76, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. Mrs. Wilkinson died Friday, December 5, 2014. Born in Mullins, she was a daughter of the late William Preston McArthur and Louise Jones McArthur. She was a graduate of Rowland High School and High Point College, majoring in history and social work. Mrs. Wilkinson taught high school in Fayetteville, NC; El Paso, TX; Monmouth, NJ; Terre Haute, IN; and Prince William County, VA. She was voted Outstanding Young Woman of the year for South Carolina in 1970; she was a past president of Manassas Women’s Club in Manassas, Va.; and twice past president of St. Andrews Women’s Club in Columbia. After retirement, she and her husband became docents at the South Carolina State Museum. Mrs. Wilkinson was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, Robert F. “Bob” Wilkinson, Sr.; sons, Robert F. Wilkinson, Jr. of Yorktown, Va., Jonathan Wilkinson (Lucia) of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada; daughter, Anne - Marie Hill (Jim) of Charleston; grandchildren, McKenzie, Caleb, Corradina; and sister, Helen Marie Rivers (Charles) of Columbia.
